Christmas presents for travelers

Only 4 days until it’s Christmas! So if you are still looking for affordable Christmas presents for a traveler friend, for someone who appreciate traveling or for yourself then I have some last-minute Christmas presents ideas for you!

To make it easier I have divided the Christmas presents ideas in two category; for the soon to be traveler and for the temporarily stay at home traveler.

For the soon to be traveler:

• Journal or notebook
  A journal or a notebook is the perfect gift to give to your friend when they go on a (long) travel journey. They can use it to keep up with their own travels, to write down memories or even feelings.
  There are so many different kinds that you will definitely find a perfect one.

  

• Locks
  Locks will always come in handy. They can use it for their backpack, suitcase or for a locker when they are staying in a hostel.
• Portable power pack
  It is never fun to have a phone that is about to die when you are just about to take a beautiful picture or when you have to make that important phone call.
  My portable power pack has saved my life many times. Just make sure it’s always charged.

  

• Packing cubes
  I have talked about packing cubes in a previous post and why I think they are a must have for traveling.
  Believe me. Your friend will be very happy with this!

• Fiber towel
  The fiber towel is something every traveler must have. It’s ideal for backpackers but even when they are traveling with a suitcase it can save a lot of space.
  Ok it feels a bit weird in the beginning but one of the reasons I like it so much is when you are at the beach the sand won’t stick on your towel and it also dries up so much faster than a normal towel.

  

• Heat packs
  If your friend is traveling to a cold country or city they will be very happy with those heat packs you gave them.
• Travel bottles
  Small travel bottles will always come in handy. There are so many different kinds but click here for an example.
• Touchscreen gloves
  Again, if your friend is going to a cold country or city and they have a iPhone then they will love you for giving them those touchscreen gloves.
  These pairs are mine and I love them! No more taking those gloves off.

  

• Adaptor
  You will never have enough adaptors. Give them a universal one and they can use it every time they go away.
• Socks
  I don’t know how we do it but one of the things we travelers lose are socks. So give them a pair of socks. Make them personal or just some funny ones.

For the temporarily stay at home traveler:

• Scratch world map
  Every traveler needs a world map. Give them one where they can scratch off the places they have been!

  

• Travel Guide
  You can never go wrong with a travel guide. If you know where their next trip is going you can surprise them with a travel guide from that country or city. Want to play it save? Then give them a gift card so they can pick one out themselves. I like the eyewitness travel/capitool travel guides the most.

  

• Pillow/Bed linen
  You can make a costume travel pillow for them with a world map or a nice travel quote on it. Same for bed linen!
• Frame with travel quote
  Don’t have a lot of money? Then you can always buy a frame and put a travel quote in it. Very easy and fun!
• Pictures of last travel
  You can always print out pictures of their travels and put them in a book or if they have instagram you can get those printed as well.
• Blog to book
  If your friend had a blog you can always make a book out of this as well! You can decide yourself how personal/complicated you want to make it.
• Travel book
  Give them a nice travel book where they can get new travel ideas from!
  Or can tell everyone else where they already have been.

  

• Travel magazine subscription
  If you don’t want to give them a book you can always give them a subscription to a travel magazine like ‘National Geographic Traveler‘.

  

• Travel Jewelry
  If your friend is a girl then you can always give them a travel related jewelry. You can find a lot on Etsy for a reasonable price. Definitely worth a look.
