The Efteling (since 1953) is the biggest theme park of the Netherlands and is for all ages. It has won several awards like ‘best theme park’, ‘most child friendliest park’, ‘most beautiful park’, etc. Last year the Efteling came in second for the ‘best theme park in Europe’!
You will find roller coasters for all ages, a fairytale forest (stories of Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Snow-white, etc), train ride, boat ride, Carnival festival (based on it’s a small world), people of Laaf, Panda dream (3D movie), carousel, performances, events, etc.
There is also a themed Hotel, a theater and even a golf court.
I have been coming here since I was little and I have always loved it. So last Monday it was time to introduce the Efteling to my little cousins (ages 5 and 6). Unfortunately it was raining but that didn’t stop us and the little ones didn’t even noticed! Sorry for the grey photos.
But even when it is raining there are a lot of activities you can do inside until it’s dry.
We arrived at 10.30am and didn’t leave until 7.30pm and we didn’t do everything we wanted! So this means we have to go back!
Our first stop was the fairytale forest. Every time I go in there I always miss a part and every time I think I got everything until I realized I didn’t see a certain story. This time I had the same problem.
This forest is pretty big and it took us a couple of hours to get through. Personally I would update the stories because they can look so much more lifelike nowadays but the kids their imagination are so big they think it’s all real so there isn’t really a problem.
If you aren’t going with children it is still definitely worth walking through the fairytale forest.
After that we had some lunch. When we were little my parents always brought sandwiches because lets face it, it’s always expensive to eat in the park but this time we didn’t wanted to bring everything so we just bought our food and the price wasn’t that bad! The kids had a meal box (3 times), my mom a Brie sandwich and I had a salad (which was really good).
Then it was time for the carousel. Thank god they kept their food inside.
We went on a train ride, went to see a mini show and did some other kids attractions. We did a lot but as I said before we didn’t do everything so we will be back!
I am going back with a friend to do all the roller coasters so there will be a blog about that one too!
Have you every heard of the Efteling and would you consider going?
